The season of Advent is a time of spiritual preparation for our celebration of the Christmas feasts and a time to look forward to and prepare for the return of Christ in glory. It is a time to recognize that Christ comes to us even now in a spiritual way through the sacraments.
The season of Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ and his manifestation (Epiphany) to the world. Christmas and its eighth day (January 1) are feasts of obligation.
